"I devote most of my time in my piano trio - as well as in most of my other bands and projects - to song form and its variations. In the last 32 years, from the miniature to the larger, through-composed song structure, several hundred pieces of music have been created, which predominantly determine the program of my bands, but jazz standards are always an important component and inspiration.
I have been working with Joscha Oetz on bass for 24 years now in various formations and projects (also in bands with me on drums), so our interplay has become very refined and is of great importance to me.
A few years ago I already played together with drummer Felix Ambach in a trio.
Both musicians stand for playing energy and interaction. In general, the piano trio represents for me a very strong, very familiar, but also always a very challenging formation. The inspiration for this concert was compositions and moods from the great era of be-bop."
